The Silver Studio was founded by fabric designer Arthur Silver
(1853-1896). Silver Studio opened in 1880, and after Arthur's
death in 1896, his son Reginald (Rex) continued to run the Studio
until 1963.
The studio supplied Liberty, the London Department store, with
many of their famous fabric designs. They also designed silver
and other metalwork. The studio continued to provide fabric,
wallpaper, carpet and metalwork designs up to World War Two,
after which the studio continued, in a reduced fashion, until
1963.The Silver Studio covered the complete range of tastes
in home furnishings: from Victorian Chintz to Art Nouveau; from
Arts & Crafts to Art Deco, and everything in between. The
firm's output was popular, stylish and widely copied.
We are pleased to introduce our Silver Studio section with
a fabric weave from 1905: Rose Cartouche. We will be adding
more from the prodigious output of this Studio in the coming
months.
